SteadyOS is a user-friendly operating system that I've started developing to give users an environment with the flexibility of Linux while avoiding the hassle of the command line.
The goal isn't to create "the greatest and most powerful system," but to have fun and to provide a cohesive system for users who may not want to deal with a complicated system.
One of the main ways I hope to achieve this is by building on top of Ubuntu, providing a more stable foundation while also removing the need to use the command line almost entirely.
Using Qt and Wayland SteadyOS provides users with Haven, a comfortable and easy-to-use desktop environment that aims to remove the need for the command line almost entirely.
While SteadyOS is still a proof of concept, it aims to have all of the basic applications the general user would expect: a graphical shell, basic utility apps, and a web browser.
This is an ambitious goal and will take time to reach the promised state. However, with a decade of experience using Linux and its internals - along with over a decade of programming experience - I hope to build something that is calm, accessible, and welcoming to users of all skill levels.
